I’ve been wondering about The Watchers lately… I used to think it’s just either a) people who I followed who followed me back out of some kind of courtesy but don’t really care about my posts, b) people who became annoyed by me somewhere down the line but are too awkward to hit unfollow, or c) people who stopped visiting tumblr. But, I’ve been getting some followers lately and I’ve been keeping tabs (FOR SCIENCE!). They find you, follow you and are never to be heard of again. They started following me so it’s not a), my blog hasn’t changed since they started following so it’s probably not b), and they started following me recently so it’s not c).

What’s up with you people? What are you doing? I need to know, dammit!

Oh man, I’m such a Likeaholic it’s not even funny. I don’t know why, but when I reblog something I get this weird feeling that I’m bothering the person I’m reblogging from. Then I always make sure I don’t reblog something from the same person more than once or twice a day because OH GOD WHAT IF THEY THINK I’M STALKING THEM THEY MUST THINK I’M SUCH A CREEP FORGET IT JUST FORGET IT I’LL GO TO THE SOURCE AND LIKE IT INSTEAD

Hahaha, you’re definitely not the only one. I often get the feeling I’m bothering the person I’m reblogging shit from, especially if that person is someone I just like and reblog stuff from and we don’t really talk (which means the majority of the people I follow). And especially if their post was something general, and then my reblog is a direct reply to what they wrote. Like right now, I feel like by reblogging this from you I’m pushing you into interaction with me.

And then if a person reblogs back, I’m still reluctant to reblog again because I’m never sure whether they’re genuinely interested in the interaction or just being polite. And I don’t like cloging peoples’ dashes with long reblog trains (although I myself enjoy those when they appear on my dash), so I usually move the convo to askbox, but it’s often uncomfortable because it feels like the tumblr equivalent of first base or something. And then the convo hits the point when it’s all said, but it’s your turn to say something and you feel like if you do, you’re dragging the dead corpse of the convo, and if you don’t, the person’s maybe waiting for the reply…

I never realized how much I rely on facial expressions and body language to gauge the temprature of the interaction before I started talking to people on the net. It’s like being blind. I’m always dumbstruck when people say making friends online is easier. Geez.
